Alenia Aeronautica has started a captive carry test flight campaign to determine the flutter performance of the new MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile while carried on the Eurofighter Typhoon.
The flight tests, from Turin (northern Italy) and Decimomannu (Sardinia), aim to explore both the subsonic and supersonic flight envelope up to Mach 1.8, the Italian company said this week.
The aircraft used is the second instrumented production aircraft (IPA02) flying in a configuration with two Meteor missiles on the wing pylons.
