Lost in translation. Film director Mike Figgis was held for questioning at Los Angeles International Airport for five hours after a TSA screener misunderstood something he said at screening, reports BoingBoing.com and Cinematical. He reportedly told a screener that he was at the airport to "shoot a pilot." In Hollywood speak, that means he was filming a TV episode that might eventually turn into a series. Figgis has directed films including "Leaving Las Vegas" -- which won Nicolas Cage an Oscar -- and "Internal Affairs," along with directing an episode of HBO's "The Sopranos."
Sir, the aircraft door needs to be closed while we're taking off. An Emirates passenger was arrested by Dubai Public Prosecution after trying to open the aircraft's emergency door while it was moving down the runway at Dubai International Airport, reports Aero News. He was charged with drinking and endangering aircraft and passenger safety.
Wow! This didn't happen in a Hartsfield bathroom! A female employee at Canada's Prince George Airport found a small camera recording her in the facility's restroom, reports the Prince George Citizen. Thanks to her tip, airport security was able to capture someone they suspected owned the camera as he was sitting in a nearby room. He was arrested by the Royal Mounted Canadian Police and the incident is under investigation.
So that's the time you get for groping. An Indian citizen was sentenced to 69 days in prison and deportation after pleading guilty to groping female passengers on a London-Philadelphia flight. Thirumurthy Nakka Boomaiah of Chennai was arrested at Philadelphia International Airport after the crew got complaints from passengers that he was touching the legs and private parts of female passengers. He was strapped to his seat until the flight landed.
Coming soon - Jordin Sparks International Airport? Flint, Mich.'s Bishop International Airport was temporarily renamed LaKisha Jones International Airport to honor the city native who placed fourth in season six of American Idol (I was a Melinda fan myself), reports MLive.com. She was in town for the day to visit friends and family before going on to Houston. (Photo courtesy American Idol.com)
What IS it about living in airports? A married couple appear to be living at Singapore's Changi Airport, reports The Electric Paper. No one can tell how long they've lived at the airport. A cab driver reports seeing them sitting in the Terminal 1 arrival hall at the beginning of May, then was "shocked" to see them in the exact place 2 weeks later. The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore is fine with people spending the night in the airport as long as they don't bother other travelers.
The runway is NOT the place for a joyride. A 21-year-old airport contract worker was arrested after taking his Pontiac Grand Am on a joyride across the runway at Tacoma Narrows Airport, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He crashed his car off the tarmac, injuring himself and a passenger.
Just say no! A 30-year-old Swedish man was arrested at Dublin International Airport after being caught trying to smuggle 750 grams of cocaine in his stomach into the country, reports The Local.com. He is being held in Ireland while he awaits trial.
I guess this didn't stay in Vegas. Las Vegas's McCarran International Airport has been targeted by heroin smugglers to distribute the drug across the country, f
Benet,
The Mike Figgis thing was misreported, much to my disappointment. It was too good to be true. ;)

The main reason Ms. Jamsheer is the proud recipient of this award, is because she fought, and is still fighting, what others thought was a lost cause. Unlike the other so called liberals of "We have a right," which should change its name to "We have Money," Jamsheer did not side with the government blindly on every issue. She faught the religious figures that wanted to stop the personal status law AND the corrupt judges and officials
