I thought that Aegis is a weapons system that is installed on, in this case an Arleigh Burke destoryer, not an actual class of destroyer. Any help?

absolutely right, Wild Bill. i was using Aegis more informally in this case, sort of as an adjective. the class is Arleigh Burke, as you noted.
